I have just found your site after doing a search for 'goth dressmaking' and I am in awe. Your collection looks fabulous, you must be really clever to do what you do.

As a 'voluptuous' goth, I can rarely find anything to fit me that is affordable and have wondered if I could make my own clothes. So far, I have adapted a plain corset, adding lace and silk flowers, and didn't to a bad job on it lol my next project is actually making a cloak out of spiderweb fabric that I bought on impulse today. Your site has inspired me to have a go. Thank you.

You have a wonderful site and great taste. The fact that you model your own creations makes it that much better....I hope that someday my work will look at great as yours! Keep up the good work! :)

HamaLee,  from KH!15/08/2007 17:41

I'm in total awe of your dressmaking skills. Fabulous.

Beth Armstrong,  Colne Lancashire19/07/2007 22:56

I first saw your work on the Vena Cava site and noticed your 'marfanic' shape, then I found your web site and as I guessed you do have that arwful condition. You are as beautiful as you are talanted. I am a mother of two marfan children. My daughter is as elegant as you,my son was a handsom talanted musician who sadly passed away 3 years ago.I am Purplesmum on the Marfan Friends forum. The main reason for my comments is at last I have found out how to do tatting.I do dress make and lots of other stuff but I am always learning new things.Thank you for your tutorial I shall be having a go.I am hosting a Marfan Friends Gather here in Colne in October you would be more than welcome to come and meet fellow suffers and enjoy making some new friends. They have all got me through a very dark time.
Take good care of yourself flower
Kind regards
Beth Armstrong

Kirochka,  Chicagoland24/06/2007 18:28

Another wanderer over from KH (and still wondering what can be wrong with J. Marsters without clothing ;-)...), and just had to say, your clothing is magnificent! I've just loved looking through your website.

Tricia,  Chicago, IL15/06/2007 15:06

I saw your completed dressing gown! Amazing, absolutely amazing. When I saw the pattern, I thought to myself, "No one will ever make this. Rowan is just showing off." But, knit it you did and I'm just blown away!

Lexy,  London, UK01/12/2006 20:58

Hi Ellie, I've been a "pop in" visitor to your site for at least a year now and have enjoyed your creations immensely. Keep up the good work and I do hope you continue to keep on top of things health-wise. I taught myself how to make corsets about a year ago and currently have five commissions to keep me busy over the Xmas period! Best wishes, Lexy

Glen Lambert,  St Aines12/08/2006 23:29

Site still looks fantastic!

Melissa,  Southern California26/06/2006 15:38

I absolutely love your work. Your costumes and goth outfits are wonderful! I've never signed your guestbook after all this time of chatting with you and your husband and all the other Free Speechers. I love checking back to see if there's anything new. I especially like the design of your site...very cool. Keep up the amazing work!

Ishana ,  Santa Cruz, California14/06/2006 17:15

Hiya Ellie,
I enjoyed your site very much - I too am a costume seamstress/designer with an old fashioned streak. I now have some pretty bad chemical sensitivities along with CFIDS, so new unwashed fabric and synthetics are out of the question. Love to see other young women with "health issues" doing what they love - anyway!
Take care -
Ishana

JANE JONES,  CARDIFF17/05/2006 11:39

Ellie
I just checked your site out after seeing the nameon the stitch and bitch website. I think your designs are wonderfull. I also used to dressmake but since having two children and running a nursery group I just do not have the time anymore. Keep up the excellent work. My favourite period is the Tudors and Stewarts, so decorative. Regards Jane

Janet Fletcher,  N Wales02/05/2006 21:16

An interesting site - just looking for inspiration for my students re. corsets - can you tell me do you use an industrial machine? My GCSE students are making corsets at the moment and Ive got to make one for an exhibition in October - I'll log on occasionally and see how u r progressing on ur site - my daughter is in to making up her own sites - I have tried but dont seem to have the time needed to sit in front of the computer.

Yet another builder from the Dalek Builders Guild- love the site, much easier to navigate than ours but dont tell the moderators! Wife loves all the dresses, hopefully she can commission the she wants and that I'm going to have to pay for (LOL).
Speak soon keep up the excellent work.

Ling,  North London24/03/2006 09:34

Hi Ellie
Thanks to your husband I found your site (from his Dalek Guild profile) I'll be keeping my eyes on this site as I'm very interested in Gothic styles myself, that's something I'd like to specialize in later in the future but for now I'm doing all sorts for my degree course.

celia sanjuan,  spain25/02/2006 10:12

Oh wow! how clever you are! I just love period and historical dresses too. I´ve bought loads of patterns to make corsets and other period underwear, southern belle costumes and the like...I´m an absolute beginner and so erm, very optomistic! ha ha. I was thrilled to find your link on the "corset making website" and to see all the lovely costumes that you´ve made. I´m hoping that one day I will be as good at it as you. Perhaps it would be ok to as you for any tips-advise as I go along and when I get stuck?
All the best,
Celia.

Emma,  Jämshög, Sweden13/02/2006 20:11

I adore your dresses. I love historical clothes! I really get some inspiration. I'm trying to learn how to sew (only been doing it in school before) so i can try to make something nice :)

Christine,  Sydney, Australia01/02/2006 00:49

Ellie, I am also a costume enthusiast, college trained and retired from theatrical work. I dress guides at historic houses but I love any excuse myself to costume up. My sewing helps me forget my aches and pains as I'm sure yours does too. Good luck with all your sewing endeavours and future health too. I'm just deciding whether to test the market here in Sydney for repro vintage clothing at a vintage textile show. Could be interesting.

Theresa,  Kentucky, US18/01/2006 22:47

Ellie, love your designs. I too am an Edwardian clothing lover. I'll be getting married spring '07 (newly engaged) and hope to find an Edwardian style gown to get married in. Thank you for sharing your exquisite designs, Theresa

Andrea Birch,  Bournemouth01/11/2005 09:56

Great Looking at all the beautiful dresses you have made. I am attempting my first corset and was directed to your site from Vena Cava. Brilliant, your site is a great inspiration!

Looked through your site for the first time and am very impressed. I am doing some research on making corsets and yours are stunning. Thanks for sharing them with us. Hazel

Isabella,  South East England15/09/2005 14:58

Hello, I just found your site via the Vena Cava corset site and I've spent a very enjoyable half hour or so browsing. I too love to make costumes though I have no particular favourite era. I also like to make ballgowns. Belonging to a Gilbert and Sullivan society is what got me started. I've only made one corset so far, in dark red velvet, but would like to make more. My latest achievement was a Dorothy costume complete with fully sequinned ruby slippers. Took a while, perhaps I should just have gone for the red glitter option. One day I'd like to make an enormous Southern Belle dress for which I do have a pattern. It seems to need about 10 metres of fabric just for a frill round the bottom though so it may have to wait until I hav a mansion to cut it out in! I think your site is charming and I'd quite like one of my own now! Best wishes, Isabella

Romilla Chadda,  London12/08/2005 14:38

Hiya to you both. Just wanted to say, I purchased the Governess Dress and it is absolutely brilliant, the effort and work you put into the dress is amazing, I am in awe of you. Thanks! I hope you are recovering from your recent operation and getting all the rest you need. Love to you both, Shanni

Kate,  Berkshire27/06/2005 13:59

I'm very impressed with the standard and authenticity of your needlework, and amazed by your dedication, especially in the face of medical problems (I also suffer from CFS). Don't let anything stop you creating beautiful outfits like those in the gallery!

Gabby,  Sheffield19/06/2005 20:35

i've come here from Vena Carva Designs. Its very nice. I'm only 15 and am making my first corset in textiles at school. i just wanted to know, what would be the easiest type of corset to make first time?

Lorraine,  Kent16/06/2005 09:30

Hi Ellie.
Just visited your gallery again & love the governess dress, was that from a pattern or a creation of your own? Can't wait to get on with all the garments I have cut & ready to sew but have been busy with other things recently. Keep up the good work & look forward to seeing what you astonish us with next.
